Class attendants will be provided with the paper(s) already
printed and cut for scoring. This note is for those who want to try
to create model by themselves.
If you have an access to software to handle DWG or DXF file,
just download **.dwg or **.dxf file posted on this site.
If not, download **.pdf files.
Choice of paper used: any printer paper 32 lb. weight
reasons: photo quality printing and strength
Size of paper : US letter size (8.5" x 11")
Most of the printers do not work well if paper weight exceeds 32 lb.
So watch out while you are printing. Paper tends to jam.

Participants will create 2 hexagonal cyliders, one with a 12-th century cartoon and the other, world famous Hokusai's "Big Waves". The first model is printed on special photo paper of paper weight 37 lb. The second is printed on HP premier paper of paper weight 32 lb. Notice the slighly tapered tab on the right hand side, and matching slit-cut line on the left . Hatched areas are for glueing after scoring . |

All pictures of Hokusai's "36 views of Mount Fuji" are printed on the 12 papers. The participants will make 2 modified "Columbus Cube". 4 pictures are printed within a square, and one cube has 6 faces, so one cube has total of 24 pictures. Since Hokusai piblished 46 pictures in this series, 2 cubes will cover all 46 pictures. One cube can be stacked on top of the other. If time allows, a paper on which a whole list of 46 pictures are printed will be folded to make "Miura-Ori" patttern for easy reference. |
